Position Summary:
The Electrical Systems Engineer will work in the product
development engineering department as an electro-mechanical systems
engineer. Primary responsibilities will be focused on understanding
system level electrical, software, and mechanical requirements
within the scope of a new product development project. With the
help of the department leader, these requirements will be assigned
to technical experts within the department. Some items will be
assigned to the systems engineer for detailed work. Broad
experience in electro-mechanical systems including integration of
high voltage electric motor systems for automotive E-mobility
applications, high voltage systems (up to 1000VDC), CAN per SAE
J1939, EMC qualification per CISPR 25 or equivalent.
Electrical Systems Engineer Responsibilities:
Motivated, self-directed, and the ability to make risk balanced
decisions.
Performs upfront analysis of technical requirements (electrical,
software, and mechanical).
Determines if/how requirements can be met and clarifies with
customer as needed.
Determines if completed designs sufficiently meet project
requirements.
Manages project requirements tools
Detailed design work for electrical hardware and/or software
Strong history of effective communication within a cross-functional
team and the ability to draw conclusion and make recommendations
based upon inputs from multiple functions.
Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership for electrical
engineering and customer-oriented projects.
Travels to customer locations with sales staff to observe
applications and collect information necessary for addressing
specific customer needs.
Participates in the process of screening vendors and their products
for use by Horton
Electrical Systems Engineer Required Qualifications:
Requires a four-year BS degree in electrical, software/computer,
mechanical engineering, or similar field, MS degree is a plus
3+ years of relevant experience
Hands-on embedded system experience either on the hardware or
software side.
Experience in C/C++ Programming for both embedded and PC
hardware.
Experience in networking technology (CAN, wireless, etc.)
Experience working in a regulated field (automotive, aviation,
medical device)
Experience in hardware/PCB design is a plus.
Must be able to show legal authorization to work in the United
States. No Visa sponsorship provided. Relocation allowance may be
provided if the individual has all of the necessary
qualifications.
