We're a unique mix of expertise & strong tenured employees in the following services: Environmental Consulting, Engineering, Emergency Response, and Waste Management for a mixed portfolio of Federal, State, Municipal, & Industrial/Commercial clients.Bay West is seeking temporary full-time staff to support a large on-going project in Council Bluffs Iowa by adding an Iowa licensed Asbestos Inspector or Site Supervisor to our team. This position will work on-site performing excavation oversight and asbestos bulk sampling. The ideal candidate must have the ability to identify, assess the friability, and direct the segregation of asbestos containing waste during excavation activities.Ideal candidate must be able to perform the following responsibilities: Visually assess excavated material for suspect asbestos-containing waste.Complete a physical assessment of suspect material for friability.Direct the segregation of friable vs. non-friable waste for proper off-site disposal.Develop summaries, generate photographic logs, and input field work documentation. Requirements: Pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and physical exam.Must be comfortable and able to work while wearing level C Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which includes a full- or half-face respirator along with Tyvek suits. Routinely lift and carry 50 pounds.Must hold a current Iowa Department of Labor certified asbestos inspector and/or site supervisor license or be licensed in another state and able to obtain Iowa licensure.Previous general labor working experience.Able to work at elevated heights.Valid driver's license.The position may require working evenings and weekends. Preferred Skills/Certifications: Two to three years of experience conducting pre-demolition/renovation asbestos surveys.40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certification and/or up to date on 8-hour refresher preferred, not required.
