MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Instructor should have high-level professional experience in construction management. The position includes requirements for teaching, course curriculum updates, and professional development. Some classes may be co-taught with other faculty.

  • Fulfill University policies using course-appropriate effective practices: setting high expectations; supporting achievement with clear instructions, examples, and samples; establishing frequent, regular contact with students; grading and returning coursework promptly with relevant formative and/or summative feedback; engaging students in relevant collaborative work; and submitting final grades on time. Real world storytelling that makes content especially relevant for students is a cornerstone of our program.
  • Provide input as appropriate for course revisions to stay abreast of business practices and trends and to support changes in the disciplinary outcomes and curricula.
  • Stay current in the discipline and participate in activities to support professional development, faculty community dialogue, self-assessment, and teaching reviews.
  • Hold weekly office hours that are reasonably responsive to student schedules.
  • Work with program staff as needed to resolve course- or student-related situations that require support or resources outside the classroom.
  • Unless a new course is being developed, course content and web-based classroom management systems have already been created and are actively managed by the program nstructional design and support team. Faculty are not expected to perform the actual task to develop the curriculum (unless a new course is offered) and implement in the classroom management system.

    Qualifications





    Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in a field closely related to construction management.
  • Ten or more years of professional "real world" experience in a field directly related to construction management, with five or more years of experience in your area of teaching expertise.Preferred:
    • Master's degree in a field closely related to construction management.
    • Teaching experience in higher education.
    • Five or more years of professional "real world" experience in a field directly related to construction management in your area of teaching expertise.Desired:
      • Ph.D. or terminal degree in a field closely related to construction management or in adult higher education.
      • Teaching experience in higher education that includes online courses.
      • Five or more years of professional "real world" experience in the private sector.
      • A demonstrated understanding of pedagogy that blends theoretical concepts and professional applications.

        This faculty position is responsible for University of Minnesota Construction Management (CMGT) course instruction as employed by Undergraduate Applied and Professional Studies (uAPS) in the College of Continuing and Professional Studies (CCAPS) in the Construction and Facility Management degree program.This job posting is intended to collect applications for one or more of the CMGT courses as needed for any particular semester.
