Careers That Change Lives The Coding and Reimbursement Analyst will support the day-to-day reimbursement inquiries from field sales and external physician and hospital providers and customers for Medtronic's Cardiovascular portfolio. The position commits to timely customer service responding to inquiries within a 24-hour window. The Coding and Reimbursement Analyst is a subject matter expert both in experience and certification in the area of US government reimbursement policies and third-party reimbursement, particularly as it relates to supporting hospital and physician customers. The role contributes regularly to developing, updating and distributing materials and information and educating key reimbursement and coding information to external customers. You will be a key member of the Reimbursement and Customer Support team and the Economics, Reimbursement and Evidence function, partnering with team members and external customers on the reimbursement and related regulations on commercially released products. A Day in the Life Serve as point of contact for incoming questions and inquiries regarding coding, coverage and payment from field sales and external physician and hospital providers. Inquiries will be received either by phone or via the RS mailbox. Perform environmental scanning for a well-defined set of topics pertinent to Cardiovascular diseases, therapies and diagnostic therapies identifying competitive products, environmental changes or trends to support field and Medtronic CV reimbursement intelligence and strategic and tactical planning. Provide report out on inquires and identifying common questions and in turn, support the development of proactive solutions (tools, FAQs, etc.) that facilitate customer understanding and education. Serve as subject matter expert for internal and external customers regarding all existing and newly established coding, coverage and payment associated with the Cardiovascular portfolio and associated Operating Units (OUs). Prepare and deliver webinars and presentations to internal and external audiences on US Reimbursement topics. Partner with field-based Regional Economic Managers (REMs) to deliver best-in-class customer education and support Consult on economic evidence development projects, including EHR and claims data outcomes research studies, retrospective chart review studies, and other evidence development coding support requests. Update and maintain current coding, coverage, payment information and tools that supports customer understanding and education. Partner with other team members on critical coding, coverage and payment development of tools and customer resources. Develop educational programs related to Cardiovascular coverage, coding and reimbursement. Provide training and education to sales force, physicians, program and clinic analysts, and financial and billing employees in clinics and hospitals. Contribute to the process for developing new concepts and innovative ways to educate and deliver timely and relevant reimbursement education materials and collaterals and conducting web-based training as part of formal and informal knowledge sharing forums. Consult on clinical trial agreement negotiations and in determination of standard of care and protocol induced procedures. Provide chart reviews in alignment with appropriate coding, as requested and in accordance with Cardiovascular portfolio policies. Development and update of coding and payment spreadsheets to respond to internal customer inquiries for coding and payment support. Contribute to and project manage cross-functional projects such as Zoom and education management, Medtronic apps, and coverage policy management. Track and report project status, timelines, and findings, highlight successes, and measure the contribution of outputs to the business. Must Have: Minimum Requirements Bachelors degree required Minimum of 2 years of healthcare work experience in reimbursement (coding, coverage and payment) for a medical technology/device company, health care consulting firm, insurance company, healthcare delivery system or medical society. Or advanced degree with zero years of experience CIRCC coding credential or willingness to obtain Nice to Have Certified Cardiology coder (CCC) One or more of the following coding credentials: RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of U.S. healthcare reimbursement mechanisms (Medicare prospective payment systems, third-party payer coverage, clinical and procedural coding) and regulations related to medical technology products. Proven work experience in providing coding, coverage, and payment advice in a healthcare setting with an emphasis on cardiology. Demonstrated work experience in a customer service role, with excellent customer service focus Project Management experience Working knowledge of federal regulations pertaining to Medicare rules and coverage policies for Cardiovascular therapies, including cardiac devices. Solid working knowledge of clinical trial policy coverage and understanding of clinical procedures and clinical study design. Able to make recommendations and implement process improvement opportunities. Able to work independently, cross functionally and as part of a team to problem solve and seek advice when necessary performing work with limited oversight and supervision. Able to manage multiple tasks with high degree of organization-prioritization skill and attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to apply strong analytical skills to a variety of situations of varying ambiguity Experience with Microsoft suite of products with an emphasis on PowerPoint, Excel, Word; Novice to Intermediate Excel experience Skilled and engaging presenter Willingness to obtain CCC if not currently certified Ability to travel up 10-20% About MedtronicTogether, we can change healthcare worldwide.
