Position Summary
The Genetic Counselor is a mid-level healthcare professional who
works to identify hereditary conditions in patients and their
families, and educates families and other healthcare providers
about the cause, inheritance pattern and medical management of
these conditions. S/he will work as a part of the medical genetics
team at Children's. The role works collaboratively with a clinical
geneticist, to evaluate patients with complex medical problems
which may have a hereditary component. In addition, there are
opportunities to work independently, with physician supervision
when appropriate, to evaluate patients with single or isolated
birth defects, known genetic conditions, or to perform screening,
triage, testing or other activities.
Successful completion of a Master's Degree Program in Genetic
Counseling. ABGC Board Certified and Minnesota state license and
credentialed upon start date required. Experience in genetic
counseling, including but not limited to pediatrics, prenatal and
general clinical genetics is desired.
The posted pay range represents rates for a grouping of multiple
jobs within a salary grade. We carefully consider a wide range of
factors including but not limited to market indicators for the
specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and
experience of the candidate, and organizational needs. Base pay is
just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Children's
Minnesota.
