Head of Data & Analytics (Hybrid)

As the Head of Data & Analytics, you--------ll lead our Enterprise Data & Analytics organization with oversight of our Data Governance & Operations, Data Engineering, and Data Analytics Centers of Excellence (COE). By partnering closely with key stakeholders across Securian Financial, you--------ll play a critical role advancing the delivery of business outcomes through data and analytics excellence across the enterprise. -- -

The Head of Data & Analytics will report to the SVP-Risk, Actuarial, Analytics and Data. The ideal candidate can drive business value by providing leadership in data and analytics, deliver optimal data solutions, and enable business intelligence teams throughout the enterprise. This is an officer level position.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and direction for the Enterprise Data & Analytics function, working closely with key stakeholders on the long-term strategic goals for design, development, and implementation of data and analytics for enterprise-wide initiatives. This includes those used to support decisions on day-to-day operations, strategic planning, and specific business needs such as revenue growth, product pricing and design, risk management, and enhancing customer experience.

Responsible for a range of data related functions that include strategy, governance, management, engineering, processing, quality standards, and the use of analytics across the enterprise.

Work with executive leadership and key stakeholders to serve as a trusted partner in the delivery of business outcomes and value leveraging data and analytics while also informing enterprise and business data and analytics strategy.

Champion an enterprise data culture and operating principles that improve data quality, consistency, accessibility, decision making, use, and stewardship.

Collaborate with key stakeholders throughout law, compliance, privacy, and cybersecurity to ensure strong risk management, privacy, and security by design.

Continue building and developing a best-in-class data and analytics team.

Qualifications:

10 + years of working experience in Data Management, Data Analytics or Data Science position within a complex organization

Demonstrated experience building and leading a data & analytics organization or practices as well as successful experience championing data analytics value across an enterprise to diverse audiences

Experience in a hands-on leadership role directly leading data and analytics teams and driving change within an organization

Proven and successful experience in a consulting role for senior leadership and executives

Strong business acumen

Strategic and critical thinking, conflict resolution and decision-making skills

Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative nature

Proven planning, organization, and prioritization skills

Experience driving large scale changes and transformations

Master--------s in Computer Science, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Analytics or any other related field. An equivalent of the same in working experience is also acceptable for the position

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in the financial services and insurance industries

**This position will be in a hybrid working arrangement**

Physical job requirements:

Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day

Ability to work at least 40 hours per week

Ability to utilize a telephone for up to 8 hours per day
