Job Description:

Northern Iron and Machine is looking for a final inspector for their foundry and machine shop.Hours 4AM-2:30PM with OT as needed$21-$23/hour pay.The core function of this role is split into four categories:Final Inspection

• Inspection and clearance to ship of all parts leaving the facility
• Inspection of incoming raw materials for the Foundry against published specifications
• Testing of parts before and after foundry processesIn-Process Inspection
  • Inspection and disposition of in-process parts for defects
  • Testing of in-process parts for conformance to inspection criteria, including brinell hardness testingScrap Analysis
    • Documenting and input of operational scrap
    • Identifying excessive scrap and relocating it to QA Hold for further discussionGeneral QA Tasks
      • Assist with sample analysis and inspection of returned material
      • Cross-train to back-up the Production Lab
      • The candidate will be required to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis. An overhead hoist is used for heavier parts. The following duties are required of our inspectors: Thorough inspection of parts with an attention to detail, using hand tools for measurements, operating a computer to obtain inspection criteria, operating a computer to enter scrapped parts and tracking of scrapped parts for further discussion at the daily Quality Meeting.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma is required for this position.We would prefer someone with previous inspection or lab experience, with a strong attention to detail. Training obtained from a technical school is an acceptable substitute for previous foundry/machine shop experience.We're looking for someone who is reliable, conscientious, has an understanding of basic Algebra and an eye for detail. Familiarity with basic Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook is also necessary.
