Our Board, leadership team and staff are broadly representative of the 65% BIPOC communities we serve.HOUSING COUNSELORThe Housing Counselor provides pre-purchase counseling, financial education and coaching, homebuyer education and group education services to a diverse group of clients and prospective homebuyers. The Housing Counselor also serves as an agency representative to a diverse group of community partners and other key stakeholders and work in partnership with the Director of Community Services and other staff to plan, develop, and carry out a broad range of services.The Housing Counselor position is part of our Economic Services Department, which is made up of individuals with many years of experience supporting families, individuals, and small businesses to achieve their homeownership and financial goals. Our team is expanding, with a number of new growth opportunities available to better serve our communities. Our work environment is fast-paced and is ever evolving with new regulations and technology.As a Housing Counselor you will serve individuals and families with the greatest barriers, and assist them in reaching their greatest successes. We engage with groups from varying income levels, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. We are looking for a Housing Counselor who is adaptable, resourceful, and knowledgeable. In this role, strong money management skills and a comprehensive understanding of the home purchase and financing process is important. Additionally, project management and group facilitation skills coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to build trusting and collaborative relationships will be vital for success. The Housing Counselor will report directly to the Director of Community Services or his/her designee.Essential duties and responsibilities:

Meet with clients individually to provide financial coaching and housing counseling -Evaluate -participants' financial wellness and identify -potential barriers and steps toward improvementCoordinate -and conduct -financial education workshops and Homestretch workshops for prospective homebuyers.Create -and ensure -completion of a client's file per organizational and HUD guidelinesConduct -community outreach to meet program goalsCultivate collaborative relationships with community partners that support individuals and families building wealth and financial stabilityStay -relevant with financial resources and industry trends and dataMaintain -timely and accurate data entry into databases and hardcopy files to maintain and manage -client data, compliance information, and other related documents.Assist -Director of Community Services or their designee with special projects as assigned and other tasks deemed necessary to achieve overall goals and operate a successful program.Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field required.Two years related experience in financial education or literacy; homebuyer education; financial management and/or foreclosure prevention counseling is requiredIn lieu of a bachelor's degree, must have at least four years of an equivalent combination of training and experience. - Knowledge or experience in mortgage and/or real estate, banking, or related areas desirable. Must be certified or become certified within twelve (12) months in Homeownership Counseling and Homebuyer Education through the Minnesota Homeownership Center or Neighbor Works. - Must be certified or become HUD certified as a Housing Counselor within twelve (12) months -Background Check required for this position.Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:00Occasional weekend evening availabilityHybrid work schedule option: 3 days in office/2 days remoteCompensation & Benefits:
Low- Mid $50's, depending on qualifications and experience.
