Job Description:
Cirdan Health Consulting, an HMA company, is recruiting for a
Database Administrator. We offer a flexible (in-office, Hybrid, or
WFH) set up, but do prefer someone be commutable to our main office
location in St. Paul. On a case-by-case basis, we will consider a
fully remote WFH setup. Job SummaryA Database Administrator will
work on a development team in a dynamic healthcare actuarial and
data warehousing environment. They will support our many and varied
ETL operations with an emphasis on improved standardization,
accuracy, efficiency, automation, and documentation in our data
warehouse operation. The Database Administrator will be provided
projects that will offer opportunities to gain broad knowledge of
the ever-changing health care environment.Work Performed and Job
RequirementsSpecific database administrator responsibilities may
include:Proactively monitoring and resolving database and server
performance issues by identifying bottlenecks, capacity issues, and
areas for improvementDesigning a backup and retention policy to
achieve variable recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time
objectives (RTO) based on server needs while minimizing data
bloatMonitoring and managing backups, recovery testing and
retention processes and procedures to ensure viable recovery points
conform to RPOAssisting in disaster recovery processes and
proceduresImplementing and validating user access levels for
databases and serversImproving database operational efficiency
through configuration, targeted query updates and index
creationPlanning, scheduling, and implementing database and server
patching and upgradesMonitoring and remediating after-hours failed
processes and critical server issuesProviding SQL training for
internal users and assist with ad-hoc query design to improve
performanceSupporting database server functions by designing and
coding utilities, scripts, jobs, packages, etc.Specific developer
responsibilities may include:Developing, testing, debugging, and
deploying SSIS solutions to efficiently automate recurring ETL
tasksMaintaining, updating, and upgrading existing SSIS
solutionsAssisting in determination of root cause and future
prevention strategies for complex issues related to ETL tasks
failureCollaborating with internal staff to determine and apply
best practices to both new and existing solutionsDocumentation of
code, user instructions, data, and process flowIndependent creation
of complex SQL queries to perform data analysis and
validationRoutine and ad-hoc data downloading, uploading, and
validation as neededAll other duties as
assigned.Education/TrainingBachelor's degree in computer
science/database management or similarExperienceAt least three
years of experience in data processing and ETL development.Minimum
of five years of experience with database management in the
following:Server performance monitoring and tuningData backup and
recoveryData warehousingMS SQL (2014 or later)MS SQL Integration
Services (SSIS), MS SQL Reporting Services (SSRS); 2012 or
laterMicrosoft Word and ExcelKnowledge, Skills and
AbilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility
to collaborate effectively and work as part of a teamExcellent time
management and organizational skillsSelf-motivation and curiosity
to learn, understand and growStrong attention to detail and
analytical abilitiesExperience with healthcare data helpful, but
not requiredWork Aids and Equipment UsedComputer, printer, copier,
scanner, fax, telephone, web conferencing.Working ConditionsThis
position is expected to be primarily remote. To work remotely,
reliable and fast internet access must be available. If this is not
available, attendance at the office is expected.Occasional
short-term travel may be required.Physical/Mental DemandsWork
requires hand dexterity for office machine operation; stooping,
climbing, and bending to files and supplies; mobility to complete
errands; stand/sit for up to eight hours each day; ability to
communicate clearly when using the telephone; requires sitting;
