A Brief Summary of This Position:
This position is responsible for the overall inspection processes for acceptability per customer specifications.
Essential Functions:

  • Pre-process, in-process, and final inspection of customer supplied parts.
  • Determine different conditions on parts to determine their acceptability.
  • Determining proper packaging for parts
  • Ensure accurate counts
  • Record information on job travelers and computer if required.
  • Ability to work in all inspection roles, whatever the department.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specification
    Other Important Details about the Role:
    • This position reports directly to the Production Lead
    • Ability to interact with diverse groups of people.
    • Good organizational and communication skills.
    • Able to multiply, divide, add and subtract proficiently.
    • Able to make decision on your own
    • Able to understand and use all inspection equipment and procedures.
    • Diagnose, determine root cause, and provide corrective actions on quality related problems
      Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
      • Must be able to read and write legibly
      • Ability to work overtime as required to meet business needs
      • The ability to safely lift up to 20 pounds frequently throughout the shift
      • Up to 2 years previous Quality experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
      • Proven track record in lean manufacturing principles including standard work, continuous improvement, problem resolution and delivery of results positively affecting the bottom line of the organization
      • The ability to work in a cooperative manner and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
      • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
      • Actively participates in department safety, demonstrates excellent safety practices and behaviors and conforms to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.
        Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
        • The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
        • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
        • Strong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectives
        • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner

          Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
          All of the working conditions for this position is in a manufacturing shop environment with exposure to dirt, grease, fumes, cold, heat, noise, dust. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic and safety safeguards such as hearing protection and safety glasses. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds in working with many different parts for processing.
