Description
Winthrop & Weinstine is seeking a New Business Intake and Conflicts
Specialist to work in our Conflicts and New Business Intake
Department. This position handles the new client/business intake
process and procedures, including generation of and analysis of
conflict searches. The responsibilities for this position will
include, but are not limited to, the following:
Update and maintain party links in conflicts database.
Generate timely conflict searches on new/existing clients, new
matters and lateral hires.
Follow-up with legal staff to clarify discrepancies in data
presented for searching.
Analyze conflict search reports to determine if possible conflicts
exist.
Constant awareness around data integrity.
Thoroughly review and electronically process new business intake
requests using institutional knowledge and firm guidelines to
ensure completeness and correctness of the conflict search, file
opening data and engagement letter, including research of previous
matters/situations, as necessary.
Pre-screen lateral hire conflict reports, identifying potential
conflicts for firm general counsel.
Perform special projects as needed.
Other duties as assigned, which could include backing up other
departments including accounting and finance.
Position Requirements
At least two years of experience in a corporate setting.
Prior law firm experience preferred but not required.
Experience with Intapp and 3E/Elite preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, and
Excel) is required.
Ability to perform work with high degree of accuracy and attention
to detail.
Skill with interpersonal relationships, communication and ability
to effectively interact with all levels of staff and
management.
Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and frequent
interruptions.
Ability to exercise accurate, professional judgment.
Skill in independent problem solving and decision making.
Skill in written and verbal communication.
Skill in organizing and prioritizing of work according to
timeliness and importance of task.
Desire to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to follow assignments through to completion.
Ability to work well under pressure with deadlines - possess a
sense of urgency.
Ability to be flexible in schedule and adaptable to constant
change.
Ability to effectively work within a team environment.
Strong organizational skills.
