license!WHAT YOU WILL DO: As a Mental Health Worker you will
provide direct support professional services and independent living
skills training to the individuals we serve in our supportive
apartments program. Our supportive apartments programs serves
individuals who are living independently, but still need to meet
regularly in their apartment or our on-site office to ensure their
goals and mental health barriers are being addressed. The
individuals served by the program include those with a mental
health diagnosis, chemical dependency, and/or developmental
disabilities. If you have a passion for assisting those in need and
want to make a difference in someone's life, then we want to meet
you!Support individuals in independent living skills through 1:1
service.Support individuals in mental health management through
identifying coping skills, practicing coping skills, and
alternative methods.Teaches and models community integration skills
such as: self-managing medications, managing personal finances,
appropriate interpersonal interactions, managing the public
transportation system, completing the necessary tasks to maintain a
home, and accessing community resources.Interacts informally with
individuals to facilitate socialization and appropriate
behavior.Participates in scheduled and spontaneous recreational
events.Teaches healthy living habits and develops the accompanying
skills.REQUIREMENTS:Have a passion for improving the lives of the
individuals we serve.Be able to pass a Department of Human Services
background check.Work in a person-centered approach.Organize and
work independently.Have strong written and verbal communication
skills.A valid driver's license and have a satisfactory driving
record.Have access to a working vehicle and valid auto
insurance.Must be able to lift 40 lbs. or more.PREFERED EXPERIENCE:
A year of working with persons diagnosed with severe & persistent
mental illness (SPMI), Developmental Disabilities, Traumatic Brain
Injuries (TBI), Trauma Histories, and Chemical Dependency (CD)
Histories.REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School or equivalent.PREFERRED
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social
