Join the talented, engaged and inclusive workforce dedicated to creating a better Minnesota.THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE USED TO FILL UP TO TWELVE (12) POSITIONS.These positions exist to actively monitor, assess, and respond to the security status of the Capitol Complex on a 24/7 basis. These positions will coordinate the response system through dispatching services and completing detailed logs for all services provided.Minimum Qualifications1. Associates degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Public Safety/Security or closely related field;OR
  • One year of experience as a Security Officer, Crime Prevention Officer, Peace Officer, or closely related profession; and
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Valid MN Drivers License.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with the public and stakeholders.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions, speak, read, and understand the English language sufficiently to read and apply security procedures, write reports and interact with customers.Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Public Safety/Security or closely related field;
  • Formal first aid/CPR training (Red Cross or equivalent);
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Outlook computer applications;
  • Working knowledge of the Capitol complex and associated grounds; and
  • Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.Physical RequirementsThese positions requires Officers to possess unique physical abilities; Hearing Requirements: must not have more than a 35 DB loss in either ear when averaging the loss at 500, 1000, 2000 and 3000 HZ; must be capable of standing for prolonged periods, walking long distances, have the ability to run, and have the ability to climb stairs and ladders.Additional RequirementsThis position requires successful completion of the following:It is the policy of the Department of Public Safety that all employees submit to a background investigation prior to employment, includes the following components:
