This position will collaborate on a variety of research/evaluation and monitoring projects that are national in scope and are related to the Flex Program. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Conducting quantitative and/or qualitative data analyses for quality-related projects for the national evaluation of the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program as a part of the Flex Monitoring Team (FMT). (60%)
  • Assisting with quarterly data reports for the FMT using R statistical software (10%)
  • Collaborating with FMT staff in writing policy briefs, reports, data analysis summaries, and peer-reviewed publications, and making presentations at professional conferences and meetings. (20%)
  • Managing dissemination of FMT products using the FMT website and email listserv (10%)This 12-month, 100% time appointment is annually renewable, dependent upon continued funding, and offers the standard University benefits. Salary is based on experience and qualifications. This position is located in the Division of Health Policy and Management at the School of Public Health, in the University Office Plaza building on the Twin Cities East Bank Campus, though remote work may be an option.


    All required qualifications must be documented on application materialsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master's degree in health policy, public health, public policy, data analytics, health informatics, or a related field and 2 years of relevant experience or BS/BA and 4 years of related experience
    • Training and demonstrated excellence in methods/statistics focusing on quantitative analysis of secondary data.
    • Proficiency in R statistical software
    • Demonstrated excellence in written, virtual, and in-person communication and strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a research teamPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Experience in analyses of survey data, claims data, and/or hospital quality data
      • Demonstrated effective writing skills, including an ability to translate research results into reports, policy briefs, papers and presentations for diverse audiences
      • Experience working with other statistical programming software (SAS, STATA)
      • Familiarity with Drupal (or other content management systems) and MailChimp
