Postdoctoral research scientist to develop theory and numerical
models on river networks and their evolution. The postdoc will (1)
help us collect data in the field and guide us regarding relevant
measurements to make, (2) review past literature on bedrock-erosion
mechanics, (3) generate a set of differential equations that
mechanistically links bedrock-erosion rates to their underlying
drivers, (4) couple this work with models in development on
alluvial-river evolution, (5) link these models across river
networks, and (6) compare them with standard heuristic methods for
understanding how river channels evolve with time.

related field
Experience with continuum mechanics (fluid and/or solid)
Experience writing computer code in C++ and/or Python
Knowledge of numerical solutions to differential equations
