The Minnesota Cancer Clinical Trials Network (MNCCTN) is a
multi-site cancer clinical trials network. The network, led by the
Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota, brings cancer
clinical trials to community sites across the state. As a growing
program, MNCCTN offers qualified candidates the opportunity to
inform and support the expansion of cancer clinical research across
the state.
The Business Intelligence (BI) Associate reports to the Senior
Project Manager and works closely with the Director, Regulatory
Manager, Program Coordinator, and Project Managers. Incumbent at
this level is an experienced professional competent to work at the
highest technical level.
As a key member of the MNCCTN HUB team, the BI Associate's primary
responsibility is the formulation and oversight of metrics, data
collection, and management systems related to the network's
programmatic activities and overall operations. In collaboration
with MNCCTN leadership, the BI Associate will define goals,
standards, and definitions for data collection, analysis,
reporting, and quality improvement. Using their knowledge of
business intelligence and systems analysis, the the BI Associate
provides technical expertise to address current reporting needs, as
well as provide guidance to develop a robust data infrastructure
for the network. The the BI Associate also participates in the
development of the network's processes and policies with a focus
towards sustainability and growth.
A successful applicant will be a proactive and clear communicator,
highly organized, skilled at translating business needs into
technical specifications, and able to work collaboratively with a
wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
50% - Lead the development of program data collection methods
* Serve as a subject matter expert on the breadth of MNCCTN
operations, processes, and planning as well as MNCCTN external
partner data needs and limitations
* Elicit, understand, and document business and process
requirements, and translate these into a data model and recommended
data capture solutions
* Lead efforts to develop an integrated system for the capture of
enrollment data, study management data, and operational data from
internal and external sources
* Work with University units such as HST, Informatics, and MCC to
understand where data lives, how it can be integrated, how to most
efficiently develop operation-specific databases
* Oversee the transitioning of all existing programmatic data into
a single source. Ensure quality and accuracy of data
transitioned.
* Use "big picture" thinking to help design a database solution
that will fit the current and future needs of the network as it
continues to grow
* Create a user handbook for database use, for internal and
external users
* Incorporate accessibility design principles when designing
reports, data request forms, and other related documents
45% - Develop and Manage MNCCTN Reports
* Collect, validate, analyze, interpret, and summarize program data
from multiple sources to drive insights into network
performance
* Create reports, charts, graphs and presentations and recommend
new strategies to improve MNCCTN operations focus on formatting,
styling, and usability
* Coordinate data collection and reporting with Masonic Cancer
Center requirements ensuring standardization and consistency across
groups
* Develop standard reports and dashboards in collaboration with HST
and other units for use by HUB and internal and external
Partners
* Develop an electronic feasibility assessment system that meets
the needs of MNCCTN HUB and external partners
* Create a report to easily track HUB and partner compliance with
MNCCTN Standards
* Compile quarterly and annual reporting metrics, including study
enrollment, staffing, operations, and professional development
* Ensure overall compliance and data integrity by conducting audits
and analyses of internal and external data

* Engage in professional development opportunities in relevant
technologies and best practices
Qualifications
All required qualifications must be documented on application
materials. Required Qualifications
* BA/BS in Biological Sciences, Health Science, Computer Science,
Informatics/ Public Health, Biostatistics, or another related
field, plus at least two years of experience, or an advanced
degree.
* Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. REDCap,
Qualtrics, SmartSheets), data visualization tools (e.g. Qlikview,
Tableau, PowerBI), and interest and ability to learn new data and
analytic tools
* Demonstrated experience with data collection, analysis, and
reporting
* Technical expertise regarding data models, database design
development
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability
to convey complex information to stakeholders of all levels
* Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in
cooperation with colleagues in a collaborative setting
* Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize
assignments and work under limited supervision and comfortable
providing timely response to urgent requests
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with CTMS systems (e.g. OnCore, Florence eBinders,
Medidata, Velos, etc.)
* Demonstrated ability to make complex decisions, solve problems,
and practice hands-on management working across organizational
processes
