Job Description:
The purpose of this position is: (60%) Execute successful
training and ongoing maintenance of internships for Luther
Seminary. The contextual learning associate will join collaborative
work in tending internship pathways for all MDiv students at Luther
Seminary, including significant attention to the training,
coaching, and evaluative processes involved in all internship
models. (40%) A major component of this work is facilitating
cluster meetings for all ELCA seminary students in Regions 1
(Pacific Northwest) and 3 (Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota).
Key Result Areas: 1. Work with the Contextual Learning team around
internship placement process for all MDiv students (primarily ELCA
students). This work is done with an eye towards the curricular arc
of internship and its integrative connection to the curricular
goals and outcomes of the MDiv program at Luther Seminary, as well
as the formation rubric. 2. Internship site recruitment and
retention. Training of students and supervisors in coordination
with Director of Contextual Learning and the Contextual Learning
Team. (3x per year: January, June, and August). 3. Incorporate
Systems Training (Family Systems/General Systems Theory) and
Spiritual Formation for individuals and communities. Practices
informed by innovation theory especially welcome. 4. Facilitate
ELCA Cluster retreats for internship teams in Regions 1 & 3 (Fall
and Spring: 6-8 Total). This includes working with Faith+Lead
clergy coaches in gathering internship teams as they tend their
ongoing development in ministerial formation and ministry skill
acquisition. 5. Collaborate with the Contextual Learning Team in
delivering learning modules for ongoing resourcing of interns and
supervisors throughout the internship year (E.g. conflict
resolution, inter-cultural communication etc.). Relationships: A.
Reports to: Director of Contextual Learning B. Supports: Director
and Key External partners (i.e. site supervisors, committee
chairpersons, and church councils as needed). C. Internal
relationships with: Center for Stewardship, Contextual Learning
Team, and Academic Deans D. External relationships with: ELCA
Seminaries, ELCA Synods, Candidacy Committees, Association of Field
Educators, Ecumenical Partners - seminaries, judicatories, and
faith-based non-profits.A. Commitment to Luther Seminary's Mission
and Vision. We are a Christ centered graduate school preparing
Christian leaders for the world. B. Desired education and
experience: 1. M. Div. with 5+ years of parish/pastoral experience
C. Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities: 1. Working knowledge
and strong usage of systems theory (family systems/general systems)
and/or other leadership development tools. 2. Willingness to travel
for cluster meetings throughout Regions 1 and 3. 3. Familiarity
with the M. Div. and candidacy requirements and processes
(especially ELCA) helpful. 4. Capability of utilizing technology
for educational purposes (video conferencing and developing
webinars/online resources for website). 5. Strong written and
verbal communication skills 6. Knowledge of ELCA is helpful. 7.
Familiarity with other Christian organizations is also helpful. To
