POSITION TITLE: Baker ACCOUNTABLE TO:Bakery Manager PRIMARY OBJECTIVE To provide quality bakery products that meet the customer's needs and ensure a positive shopping experience for customers. NATURE AND SCOPE Emphasis in this position is to ensure consistent product quality and quantity to meet daily product needs in the bakery department. The primary challenge is to plan, organize and execute daily production. This position requires knowledge of bakery production and product preparation, food safety regulations, judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing, and math. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs.Assignments and work direction provided by Bakery Manager or person in charge ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS Assist customers Greet customers Answer customer questions; provides product sampling and suggestive selling Bring customers to location of item, when needed Assists with product replacement and price checks Answer bakery telephone calls promptly Records cake orders accurately and completely Assists at check out lanes as needed Perform price checks check out lanes Functional Requirements Frequent: Physical - lifting up to 50 lbs., equipment operation (scanner, register, scale, check approval machine, coupon machine, intercom, telephone), reaching, standing, turning; Mental - judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing, math Occasional: Physical - lifting over 50 lbs., equipment operation (adding machine), calculator, squatting, stooping/bending, walking Performs baking and food preparation Follows safe food handling and preparation processes Follows approved preparation and production guidelines Ensures proper product quality, presentation and rotation Ensures proper ingredients and consistencies (scales/measures) Plan and adjust production sheets in order to consistently maintain adequate department conditions Ensures a variety of product is prepared for maximum sales potential Functional Requirements Frequent: Physical - lifting/carrying 15 to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 20 force pounds, equipment operation (box cutter, forklift, scraper, mixer, sheeter, bun rounder, oven, proofer, cooler, bread slicer, shrink wrapper), reaching, squatting, kneeling, stooping/bending Mental - memorization, equipment operation (calculator), computer skills, math, reading, writing Environmental - working with hot equipment and conditions Occasional: Physical - climbing, crawling, ladders, walking on uneven ground Ensures adequate quantities of product and supplies Monitors movement and stock levels to ensure proper ordering Places orders as required Functional Requirements Frequent:Mental - judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing Stocks, rotates and faces bakery product Pulls stales and writes down product, quantity and retail Rotates product and removes outdated or unfit product Assists in wrapping and labeling of bakery product Assists with stocking, display building, resets Functional Requirements Frequent: Physical - lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying up to 50 lbs. to occasional, pushing/pulling to 100 force pounds, equipment operation (bakery rack), walking, reaching Mental - judgment/decision making, reading, memorization Occasional: Physical - pushing/pulling up to 200 lbs., equipment operation (shopping cart, cleaning utensils), stooping/bending, Mental - writing, math Performs clean up of department Follows all safety, sanitation and food handling regulation Break down of department to ensure ovens and fryers are clean Cleans department and maintains conditions in the back room Performs department shop back functions Cleans shelves, racking and cases as needed Uses personal protective devices (splash goggles, chemical resistant gloves) as required Functional Requirements Frequent: Physical - lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying up to 50 lbs. to occasional, pushing/pulling to 100 force pounds, equipment operation (shopping cart, cleaning utensils), stooping/bending, walking, reaching, turning, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, squatting Mental - judgment/decision making, reading, memorization Occasional: Physical - pushing/pulling up to 200 lbs., Mental - writing, math Follows all store and department policies and proceduresFunctional Requirements Frequent:Mental - judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing Performs other duties as assigned or delegatedNote: *Within each essential functional requirement, "Frequent" represents approximately 15% of the work shift or at least ten repetitions per work shift."Occasional" represents approximately less than 15% of the work shift or fewer than 10 repetitions per work shift *Management retains the discretion to add or to change the position functions at any time. *Position functions may vary by store location Additional Information Schedule: Full-time
