Eligible: Yes Job Summary This position exists to provide
epidemiological expertise for the Newborn Screening Program - Point
of Care Unit (Early Hearing Detection & Intervention (EHDI) &
Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD)). Epidemiological
expertise will be utilized to collect, extract, analyze, and
summarize data in written reports, published papers, and
presentations. This position is responsible to ensure that data and
evaluation results will be translated into meaningful action. This
position will include work to develop, track, and direct the
implementation of a wide variety of routine data metrics in
screening, follow-up, and outcomes and use data to improve
follow-up processes. This position leads the epidemiologic work of
the Point of Care Screening unit (EHDI & CCHD) within the Newborn
Screening Section of the Public Health Lab Division. All positions
within the MDH Public Health Lab will work to cultivate an

equity. Telework (Within Minnesota or Neighboring States) and
flexible hour options may be available. Qualifications Minimum
Qualifications Bachelor---s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology,
or closely related field. AND Three years of professional
Epidemiologist experience. The three years of experience must
include and be clearly stated on your resume to be considered:
Experience with data analysis and data visualization Managing large
data sets including data cleaning, merging, and performing relevant
analyses in order to summarize, interpret, and communicate public
health data. Proficient with software such as ArcGIS, SAS, Tableau
and SQL or REDCap databases. A Master---s degree in Public Health,
Epidemiology, or closely related field will count for 18 months of
Epidemiologist experience. Applicants must provide proof of
completion of Master---s degree (coursework and project/thesis) The
following is required to be considered a candidate and will be
assessed during the interview process: Extensive knowledge of
statistics and statistical methods sufficient to collect, organize,
and interpret data from newborn screening, CCHD, and EHDI programs
Demonstrated experience with written and verbal communication of
data analysis and data visualizations, i.e., reports, posters,
presentations, publications Demonstrated experience with program
evaluation and quality improvement Have an understanding of
diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and how they can be
applied in the workplace to promote an inclusive work environment
for all Ability to encourage a positive, collaborative, welcoming
team environment Preferred Qualifications Professional experience
must include responsibility for designing and conducting a variety
of investigations of health conditions or related professional
experience, such as surveillance Ability to maintain surveillance
systems and experience with database development Knowledge of
newborn screening or other public health screening and surveillance
Experience with grant requirements in order to help write and
prepare grants Excellent interpersonal and organization skills,
excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability
to relay data and epidemiologic information and work Ability to
work collaboratively with diverse partners and have an
understanding of health equity and how it pertains to public health
Ability to prioritize and organize projects and requests while
adhering to work plans, timelines, and strategic program
initiatives Experience establishing culturally competent public
health programs and working with diverse populations Additional
