Thomas Allen is Hiring a Lead Direct Support Professional!Paid training provided!LOCATION: Shoreview, MNHOURS AVAILABLE: Monday - Friday 3pm - 10pmJOB SUMMARY: As a Lead Direct Support Professional, you will have the primary responsibility of meeting the needs of the individuals supported in the home, including providing proactive, empowering, and inclusive support, guidance, and supervision. In Designated Coordinator's (DC) absence, you will delegate work duties and workflow for the shift. In this home you will be working with 3 women who are deaf and/or use American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate. All the ladies are Fluent in ASL and rely on staff being able to communicate with them in their language proficiently. You will being working with co-workers who are also deaf and/or proficient in ASL, so high skill level is required. The people served in this home are very active and like to go to many community events and activities. Interest and support in this area is a must.DUTIES INCLUDE:Assist and encourage individuals to realize both long and short-term goalsAssist with personal careMenu planning and preparing meals, or assisting the individuals served with these tasksCoordinate and/or complete the preparation of new charts, loggings, and other forms neededLog all day-to-day occurrences and on a schedule determined by the DC, review general and other loggings, outcome charts, and other documentation to ensure accuracy and thorough completionAs requested, schedule and accompany individuals to medical appointmentsPerform medication administration, monitor the need for prescription renewal, and work with medical equipmentHelp the individuals to maintain their home by assisting with laundry, budgeting, cleaning, and shoppingSchedule transportation to community eventsAssist with training new staffWork alongside the individual's guardians, families, case managers, and other team membersPerform other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:Must be proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)Must have 1 year of related experience working with individuals with disabilitiesWillingness to attend to personal cares and health needs, light housekeeping, and meal preparationWilling to commit to and implement person-centered supportsHigh school diploma or equivalentDepartment of Human Services background clearanceValid driver's license, reliable vehicle, acceptable driving record, and proof of auto insurance requiredMust be 18 years or olderAbility to effectively communicate in English, both written and verballyTo view other open positions, click .Thomas Allen, Inc. is a social services agency that provides a variety of person-centered services to individuals with disabilities throughout the state of Minnesota.
