The Holy Spirit calls Luther Seminary to lead faithful innovation for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ in a rapidly changing world through witness, education, accompaniment, and discovery. Living into this vision, Luther Seminary is seeking a theologically reflective and imaginative person for a tenure-eligible position in Congregational and Community Care Leadership, to begin July 2023. Luther is a residential school with a distributed learning program, and this position will be located in the Twin Cities of St. Paul, MN. Faculty must live within a 100-mile radius of our campus.Candidates should have ministry experience and be committed to communal contextual and intercultural paradigms of pastoral care. Candidates should demonstrate the capacity to relate theology with psychology and other social sciences in caring for persons, congregations, and communities. The ability and willingness to give theological leadership in a Lutheran seminary committed to the missional character of the Christian faith is essential.Responsibilities include teaching foundational and elective courses in Congregational and Community Care Leadership in a variety of academic programs: MDiv, MA, ThM, and PhD. These courses will be taught in various residential, online, and hybrid modalities. The ability to engage in effective web-based and web-enhanced teaching and learning is required. Experience with shaping an inclusive classroom, teaching a diverse student body, and understanding the educational needs of marginalized students is essential.The capacity to accompany students from diverse domestic and international contexts in their vocational formation in an innovative educational culture is expected. The person selected will serve in the faculty's Leadership Division.Additional responsibilities include pursuing a lively research and writing agenda, advising students representing a variety of Christian denominations in vocational preparation for professional ministry, contributing to the work of shared governance that belongs to the faculty and taking part in the collegial life of the community.Opportunities exist for contributing to the seminary's expanding lifelong learning programs and the popular online resources such as Working Preacher, Enter the Bible, and Faith+Lead.Luther Seminary provides medical and pension benefits, skilled support for course/learning design, funds for scholarly conferences, a sabbatical policy, and the opportunity for collegial mentoring and/or an external mentor.Luther Seminary is a Christ-focused Seminary that educates leaders for Christian communities called and sent by the Holy Spirit to witness to salvation through Jesus Christ and to serve in God's world."
