work directly with assigned student-athletes on various
economics-based concepts including microeconomics, macroeconomics
and more. Primarily, this position will assist student-athletes in
learning and mastering the course content of various economics
related classes at the University of Minnesota. Appointments will
be scheduled in small groups (1-2 students) on a weekly recurring
basis. Currently, most sessions are conducted in person, however
the position does have some potential flexibility for remote work.
The position requires approximately 20-29 hours per week, with
midday or evening availability preferred. The position will be paid
hourly at a rate commensurate with experience. This position will
join the Lindahl Academic Center Tutor Staff which consists of over
80 part time tutors and conducts over 8,000 tutoring sessions per
semester.Duties and Responsibilities: Meet with assigned
student-athletes weekly to assist in their learning of economics
course content. Assist student-athletes in developing daily,
weekly, and monthly goals and timelines in regards to their
progress in economics related courses. Submit daily tutor reports
for each tutoring session which occurs. Uphold all standards of
academic integrity, including those outlined in the Lindahl
Academic Center Tutor Code of Conduct. Comply with all University
of Minnesota, Big Ten Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree Experience working with
students from diverse backgrounds, particularly in the content area
of economics Must successfully pass a mandatory criminal background
check Flexible hours, with some night and weekend workPreferred:
Experience teaching economics at the high school or college level
Experience working with student-athletes from diverse backgrounds,
particularly in the content area of economics
