The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Tommie Shop Supervisor position within the Tommie Shop.

This position will require some evening and weekend work. A consistent weekly schedule will be created together with the employee and supervisor, dependent on business needs. Occasional weekend work will be dependent on special and/or sporting events.

This position will be assigned to work in the Tommie Shop within the Anderson Student Center. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Tommie Retail Shop. This includes daily and seasonal merchandising, scheduling for day-to-day business and special events. This position will take direction from the Clothing Buyer/Tommie Shop Manager. This position will be full-time, work schedule flexibility is essential, as your schedule can vary depending on what events are taking place. This position requires decision-making skills and great customer service skills.


  1. This position will be responsible for stocking and merchandising of the Tommie Shop to include creating appealing visual displays and merchandising. This position will provide exceptional customer service to the UST customer. This position will assist in opening and closing the store on a regular basis. This will include counting down the cash drawers and printing reports as needed

  2. This position will supervise during their shifts and assign projects and breaks to others in the Tommie Shop. As a supervisor, this position will give directions to student workers and staff members; provide feedback to the employees and to ensure that the assigned tasks are completed. This position will be responsible for creating a weekly schedule.

  3. This position will assist the Tommie Shop manager in keeping an accurate inventory. This will include entering items in the Inventory Management System. These items can include markdowns, stock transfers, and new items.

  4. Other duties assign by the Tommie Shop manager.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • One year of professional retail sales experience
  • As this position will assist in the merchandising of the store, this person must be creative and able to create attractive displays on a daily basis
  • This position requires excellent customer service skills

Special Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Knowledge: Business arithmetic including calculation of margins and markdowns; techniques for dealing with the public, in person and over the telephone; basic computer applications related to the work; creating merchandising displays. Online selling procedures: social media and how to manage.

Skills and Abilities: Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work; entering numerical and related information into a computer system with speed and accuracy; meeting critical time deadlines; contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities; dealing successfully with the public; excellent customer service skills; strong attention to detail; ability to maintain accurate.
