Overview

Memorial Blood Centers (MBC.ORG), a division of Innovative Blood Resources (www.innovativebloodresources.org), has been saving and sustaining lives since 1948. We supply blood and blood components, state-of-the-art laboratory services, and biomedical expertise to area healthcare partners, national blood centers, biotechnology companies, research institutions, and international clients. Operating 10 donor centers and conducting hundreds of blood drives each month, we are proud to be an independent nonprofit that supplies over 30 area hospitals and more than a dozen air ambulances with life-saving blood-from our community, for our community.

Responsibilities

Summary:

This position ensures biomedical procedures including Cellular Therapy (CT) collections, and any additional collection procedures are done in a manner that is consistent with current clinical practices, compliant with all regulatory requirements and results in exceptional experiences for patients, donors and family members. Works together with the Ed of Clinical Services of NYBCe to ensure a working environment for applicable staff is supportive and productive through recognition, feedback, coaching, and development.

Schedule: Monday - Friday to meet business needs

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide CT collections program leadership and guidance to ensure a clinically consistent and compliant collection operation that exceeds customer expectations
  • Works in conjunction with medical staff to review all patient treatments and recommended treatment plans.
  • Ensures adherence to SOPs, regulations, guidelines, practices, and policies.
  • Maintains quality patient care and services to the community through the implementation of the staff training program, standards of care, process improvement plans, and excellent customer service.
  • Assists to achieve the financial objective of the department through the annual budget and cost analysis preparation.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements within the CT collections program. Ensures team is aware of plans and goals to ensure success, productivity, cost containment, and quality.
  • Manages, trains, mentors, and develops assigned staff.
  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
  • Ordering/stocking supplies
  • Performing equipment cleaning
  • Maintaining equipment
  • Performing collections QC tasks
  • Analyzing data and trends

Qualifications

Education:

Associate's Degree in Nursing

Experience:

Three years nursing experience

One year of apheresis and/ or CT collection

One year of leadership experience

Licences:

RN, Minnesota Registration

CPR Certification

Other:

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Moderate to high level of data analysis and math functions

teamwork and working with others

BSN (preferred)

QIA (ASCP) qualification or HP (ASCP) certification (preferred)
