Overview Receives and processes all telephone and computer requisitions and special food requests received in the Nutrition Care diet office. Functions as a communication link between customers as well as the patient care area and the food service department. Week 1 Tuesday - 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Week 2 Saturday - 6:30 am to 11:30 am Sunday - 6:30 am to 11:30 am Friday - 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Responsibilities/Job Description

  • Nutrition Services Associates will work in our diet offices, contacting and communicating with our patients and nurses.
  • Will gain a thorough understainding of our menu and specialized diets, to help guide patients in their meal ordering process.
  • Work with nursing to accomodate nutrition services requests throughout their shift.
  • Work with computer systems and menu software daily
  • Will track multiple data sets and completes daily adminstrative tasks
  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations and policies, procedures and standards
  • Communicates with patients about dietary guidelines and assists patients with ordering
  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements to achieve clinical, satisfaction and/or efficiency outcome
  • Practices proper infection control methods including hand-washing, personal hygiene and infection control policies Qualifications Required Qualifications:
    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • Understanding of modified diets Preferred Qualifications:
      • 1 year health care food service experience preferred Other required skills:
        • Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task
        • Ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (use a mouse, navigate in Windows, Outlook, etc)
        • Skilled in developing effective rapport with customers, co-workers, or families, actively listening to develop a positive connection
        • Knowledge and skills related to applying mathematical tools and methods for routine calculations
        • Ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures
        • Cultural competence comprises four components: (a) Awareness of one's own cultural worldview, (b) Attitude towards cultural differences, (c) Knowledge of different cultural practices and worldviews, and (d) cross-cultural skills
        • Knowledge of appropriate data collection policy and procedures, filing systems, data management systems, and programs
        • Ability to compile, assimilate, organize, and store printed and electronic information
