    Job Summary:

    We are looking for a seasoned Front-End Designer & Developer to join Scantron's Technology Team. This person will work with Scantron's stakeholders and other members of Scantron's software development team to define and refine the design of Scantron's digital assessment systems. Scantron is currently transforming from a global leader in scanning and paper-based assessment into an emerging leader in online, digital assessment. Scantron's approach to web-based software development is to practice design thinking methodologies and ensure optimal user experience for every stakeholder using our technology.

    Responsibilities:
    • Participate in the design and development of new applications under the direction of technology leadership
    • Conduct user research and usability testing sessions and ensure findings are embedded throughout the product development lifecycle
    • Interface with both internal and external stakeholders to develop and evaluate appropriate functional specifications
    • Illustrate design ideas and translate those ideas into commercial-grade, web-based user experiences
    • Translate use-cases and other requirement types into code according to a defined software development lifecycle (SDLC)
    • Develop graphic user interface elements for use in element libraries throughout Scantron's solutions and design systems
    • Design and develop with responsive web, tablet, mobile, and desktop considerations
    • Evaluate and recommend improvements in existing software solutions in order to ensure optimal functionality and performance
    • Provide support and guidance to internal user groups regarding existing software solutions
    • Other relevant duties as assigned by the department

      Required Skills:
      • Experience applying design thinking methodology
      • Experience wire-framing and designing user journeys
      • Advanced experience designing high-fidelity comps and prototypes
      • Experience developing and maintaining design systems (style guides, component libraries, etc.)
      • Advanced experience in responsive web front-end development
        • Specifically HTML5, CSS/SCSS/SASS, Angular 8+, JavaScript, TypeScript
        • Ability to work autonomously, to be a self-starter, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
        • Excellent oral communication, written communication, and problem-solving skills
        • Passion for technology and compelling user experiences

          Desired Skills
          • Experience with prototyping software (Figma, Envision, UX Pin, or equivalent)
          • Experience with Storybook
          • Experience with Azure DevOps and Agile Methodologies
          • Experience with Git Source Control
          • Experience with Microsoft Visio or other diagramming software
          • Experience with NRWL NX
          • Experience with Jest Unit Testing

            Qualifications:
            • 5+ years of experience in front-end design and development utilizing industry standards and best practices
