Salary Range: $21.83 - $31.70 / hourly; $45,581 - $66,190 / annually

Job Summary

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the principle responsibilities of this position include the formation, processing, analysis, and review of State and Federal grants and incentive payments so that procedures, guidelines, and standards are followed and program goals and objectives are achieved. The primary activities of this position are to lead administration of the Agricultural Growth, Research, and Innovation (AGRI) Value-Added Grant, assist with the administration of the Specialty Crop Block Grant, the AGRI Sustainable Agriculture Demonstration Grant, bioenergy grant programs, and bioincentive payments, and administer pass-through grants that are technical and research in nature. This position is also expected to provide expertise to Ag Marketing and Development staff with grant and contract administration.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Horticulture, Business Administration, Public Administration, Food Systems, or a related field


One (1) year of experience that includes any of the following:

* Experience administering grants and contracts

* Experience managing and reporting on contract and grant budgets

* Work with Federal and State financial rules and policies


* English (speaking, writing and reading) sufficient to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and to compose and edit a variety of documents using proper business English, spelling and grammar

* Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous, and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, through email and other written correspondence.

* Critical thinking and analytical skills adequate to interpret policy and procedures that may be ambiguous or ill-defined, review progress and financial reports, determine eligibility and compliance with requirements, state statutes, and grant management policies.

* Proficiency with personal computers and software related to grants management, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

* Must currently possess and maintain an active/valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record subject to review.

* The ability to celebrate diverstiy and a strong commitment to a respectful and inclusive work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in Marketing, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Horticulture, Business Administration, Public Administration, Food Systems, or a related field.

* Experience working with value-added processors.

* Experience working with or performing agricultural research.

* More than one year of grant administration experience.

* Demonstrated knowledge of Minnesota Office of Grants Management policies and guidelines.
