Description of Position
This position is responsible for supporting operations of the
Veterinary Medical Center and includes hands on patient care,
training of new CVT and VTA staff and creation of instructional
content with which to train staff and DVM students.
Additional duties include maintaining facilities according to
organizational cleanliness standards, ordering or stocking supplies
and accurate, confidential record keeping. The third shift
Technician Training Specialist provides support to the after hours
dispensary students and supervisor through direct training, content
creation and on-call duties. Other duties may be assigned. The
specific duties and work schedule will vary based on current
needs.
Responsibilities
Training - 60%
* Assist VMC leadership in identifying knowledge gaps and creating
training content directed at newly hired CVT and VTA personnel as
well as staff that are more experienced
* Implementing structured training for CVT and VTA personnel for a
variety of situations: orientation training, skill building or
re-training / skill assessment
* Schedule and lead progress meetings with supervisors of staff in
training
* Provide respectful, direct and in-the-moment feedback, including
constructive criticism, to CVT, VTA and DVM students
* Assist with /coordinate teaching labs when assigned
* Participate in cyclical reviews of incident reports to identify
trends and recommend/develop training content
* Support the VMC CVT internship program and assist in the
evaluation of individuals with the help of the VMC internship
coordinator
* Assist in schedule building, addressing customer concerns and
coaching development tasks as assigned.
* Responsible for building individual knowledge and skills in the
areas of instructional leadership and workplace training
After Hours Dispensary Support - 30%
* Assist dispensary supervisor in scheduling, training,
interviewing and hiring after hours dispensary students.
* Support coaching conversations / retraining when errors occur
related to the after hours dispensary.
* Support after hours dispensary training for hospital staff as
well. Create static training sessions around holidays to help
improve efficiency.
* Support after hours dispensary on-call rotation in partnership
with the dispensary supervisor.
Patient Care - 10%
* With the assistance of technician supervisors, direct and provide
on-the-floor, patient care and operational support in a variety of
services: Emergency and Critical Care (ER, ICU, Urgent Care),
Anesthesia, Surgery/Operating Room, Small Animal Internal Medicine,
etc when not on a training rotation
* Responsible to ensure that all services and supplies are charged
for according to hospital fee schedule
* Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Clinician(s) and
Director
