Working with the Director of Workforce Data Management, the
successful candidate will develop and lead a team that works with
many campus partners in the collection, organization, analysis,
auditing and correcting of HR data. They will also work on HR
systems security strategy, and ongoing management of improving
transactional processing.Job Responsibilities:
Workforce Data Leadership 45%
- Leads a team of Workforce Data Supervisors that are responsible
for ensuring their team efficiently fulfills data requests and
provides excellent customer service
- Provides strong, innovative leadership that mentors, develops,
and guides team members to efficiently leverage the value of every
request.
- Delivers results against a defined scope of work that includes
measurable performance reporting and develops the tools needed to
improve such measurements
- As a people manager, directly influences and contributes to
UMN's goal of creating a caring and inclusive culture
- Manages performance reports by collecting, analyzing, and
summarizing data and trends.
- Ensures teams are effectively collaborating with other
workforce data management work streams to ensure data is
reportable/modeled and prioritized training is developed on process
best practices.
- Serves as a final escalation point for complex issues or
questions
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking
emerging trends in operations management, including benchmarking
state-of-the-art practices related to data quality / audit, trend
measurements, training strategy, technology support, and data
security. Continuous Improvement 25%
- Facilitates, improves, and leverages business processes to help
ensure equity, effective use of systems, accuracy, and security of
data
- Identifies processes and procedures, lines of communication,
opportunities for critical monitoring/data integrity oversight, and
other aspects of the workforce transactional process to ensure
compliance with federal and state policies and contractual
provisions of all unions
- Critically evaluates the inclusiveness, efficacy and relevance
of transactional processes to support streamlined, centralized, and
transparent procedures
- Invests in the professional development of the Supervisors,
Specialists and Coordinators and contributes to equitable
succession planning and workforce strategy discussions
- Ensures Supervisors have a working knowledge of all applicable
HR policies and procedures
- Cultivates an inclusive environment where all feel a sense of
belonging
Technology and Data Security 15%
- Responsible for executing a data security strategy and for
managing the team that reviews all security requests and for
determining if the appropriate approvals have been attained.
- Reports out on compliance metrics related to data requests
- Ensures compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and
standards.
- Collaborates with various data security teams to understand
University-wide security programs and policies.Professional
Development 10%
- Completes professional development, education, and training
activities, consistent with managing the responsibilities of the
position. Completes continued learning and development appropriate
to work duties and for the pursuit of individual, unit, and
institutional success.
- Empowers and enables staff development based on individual need
including ongoing skills training, DEI development, professional
learning, service & scholarly activity, and engagement &
well-beingOther duties as assigned 5%
Qualifications
Required:
- BA/BS degree and 8 years of experience
- Experience with workforce data and HR management principles,
practices, procedures, and documentation.Preferred:
- Proven experience as a data manager
- Excellent understanding of data administration and management
functions
- Experience collaborating across various institutional
offices
- An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles and processes for
providing equitable customer and personal services.
- Focus on compliance to ensures policies, practices and
procedures are upheld to maintain institutional compliance
- Ability to maintain and foster inclusive relationships within,
across, and external to organizational boundaries.
- Experience using organizational knowledge to understand the
vision, mission, and values of an organization in order to achieve
success.
- Evidence of effective communication that provides regular,
consistent, and meaningful information both written and verbally;
ability to listen carefully to others and ensure messages are
understood.
