Job Description:

Northern Iron and Machine is looking for a Production Supervisor for our foundry!The Production Supervisor is responsible for being on the floor to direct the work flow, manufacturing processes, and work force in their assigned department(s).

The Production Supervisor directs the activities of an increasingly quality-oriented, safe, and productive work force. They executes the production plan and are responsible for directing their department's work force to complete the scheduled work.Key Responsibilities:

• Keep the workplace safe for their self and others
• Help coordinate and communicate the work required in accordance with the foundry plan
• Investigate safety and quality incidents and near misses
• Improve quality by identifying root causes and solving problems
• Participate in assigned Kaizen events
• Exhibit a ferocious and intelligently applied work ethic directed at continual improvement
• Demonstrate respect for each person in the organization and the work he or she performs
• Be deeply committed to learning and teaching, which means increasing your own expertise
• Be fair and honest
• Listen, listen again, then talk
• Use positive language and have a positive attitude
• Be willing to "go the extra distance" for our customer and the organization
• Plan to work 50 hours per week on average and a few days a month on off shifts for shift support
• Grow their direct reports through: - - - - - - o Manager Tools one on one's - scheduled, held weekly, and focused on the direct - -
  - - - - - - o Discuss performance daily with your directs, using Manager Tools feedbacks 5 times per day
  - - - - - - o Discuss performance every 3 months in formal written reviews
  - - - - - - o Promote cross training when possible
  - - - - - - o Encourage EBI lites and good catches
  • Promote and enforce lean manufacturing principles, including working to the shot by shot "drum beat", one piece (shot) flow, standard work, and connecting the work flow to the customer through a pull system
  • Train each direct to do the work according to existing standards as well as continuously look for opportunities for improvement.

    Minimum 3 years of direct supervision experienceFoundry Experience preferred, but not requiredHeavy Manufacturing Experience preferred but not requiredAssociates degree or higher preferred -Benefits include:
