    Job Summary

    Join the mission-driven team at the Public Health Laboratory (PHL) and promote and protect the health of all Minnesotans!

    This posting will be used to fill two (2) Laboratory Scientist 1 positions. Both positions will provide analytical support to the Inorganic Chemistry Unit. The principal responsibility of each role is to analyze environmental samples using techniques and instrumentation appropriate for either inorganic chemistry analysis or radiochemistry analysis, and to provide analytical results to clientele so that potentially hazardous situations are detected, monitored, and corrected to ensure and protect the public health and quality of the environment. Both positions will work to cultivate an inclusive work environment for all, with respect to diversity and equity.


    Minimum Qualifications

    To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed below and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.
    • One year of experience analyzing environmental samples.
    • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, Microbiology, Ecology, or other related sciences.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment (USEPA or ISO 17025 accredited).
      • Knowledge of analytical techniques.
      • Analytical laboratory skills.
      • experience working with and maintaining instrumentation.
      • Technical skills in the preparation and analysis of samples with environmental sample matrices.
      • Experience following quality control procedures and protocol to ensure accuracy of tests using documented procedures.
