Description of Position
The receiving technician will receive clinical specimens, enter specimen data into a computer system, prepare samples for laboratory analysis, prepare specimens for shipment to outside labs, performs diagnostic testing under the supervisor of a qualified technologist and work with coordinate diagnostic and research testing with the clinical pathology team. Other duties include inventory, ordering and working within the Enterprise Financial System.

Responsibilities
50% - Log all specimens and determine suitability to GLP regulations, perform data entry of diagnostic test results for VMC patients
30% - Process samples for Chemistry, Hematology, Parasitology, Cytology, Send out Testing, Diagnostic Lab, and research projects. Perform diagnostic testing under the supervision of a qualified technologist
5% - Verify client charges for testing
5% - Maintain equipment and work area according to high standards of cleanliness
5% - Screen inquiries and incoming calls; refer to appropriate lab personnel
5% - Ship diagnostic specimens
Salary Range: $20 to $23.46

  • High school education or the equivalent with some science courses and two years of experience in relevant academic and work experience may be substituted.
