Department Overview
The Social Work department provides emotional support and
counseling to children and their families. They provide crisis
intervention services, help with adjustment issues, grief and loss
counseling, mental health assessments, case coordination, community
advocate support, and short-term therapeutic interventions.
Position Summary
Seeking a clinical social worker (LGSW or LICSW) to support
critical overnight social work coverage in the Emergency Department
and campus wide. Clinical social workers provide trauma informed
care and work from an equity lens to support patients and families
facing unexpected admissions, trauma, grief/loss, end of life and
basic needs. Primary responsibility to complete crisis mental
health assessments and support connection to Children's inpatient
mental health unit or alternative safe discharge plan developed in
partnership with family. Based in St. Paul with ability to respond
to Minneapolis via telehealth.
To provide clinical assessment, therapeutic intervention and
resource mobilization for families and children who have complex
psycho-social and emotional needs in a multi-disciplinary pediatric
hospital setting. Pediatric social workers provide these services
to children 0-18 years of age and their families.
Qualifications
License/Certification/Registration required? Yes
* Minnesota State LGSW, LICSW preferred
Education:
* Master's degree in social work required.
Experience:
* Experience providing crisis intervention.
* Two years experience with counseling in a health care related
setting or two years experience in a pediatric related setting or
completion of graduate internship in either of the above
settings.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Knowledge of community resources.
* Ability to provide good, clear documentation of work.
