Overview:Clinical Biomanufacturing Associate I is responsible for
the Manufacturing of cell therapy products ("biologics") used in
human and non-human primate (allo-) and porcine (xeno-) islet
transplantation and immunoregulation studies for the treatment of
Type 1 Diabetes. Supports manufacturing process through the
application of broad knowledge of theories and principles utilized
to solve operational, as well as routine tasks in the production of
cell therapy products. Maintenance of laboratory standards to
include but not limited to monitoring experiment and/or equipment
status, raw material inventory and qualification, environmental
monitoring, technical writing for development/revision of standard
operating procedures, and providing essential feedback for the
completion of process changes and deviations/corrective actions.
Perform day-to-day work in a translational research/pre-clinical
(GRP - Good Research Practices) setting as well as an FDA regulated
clinical (cGMP - current Good Manufacturing) laboratories.
40% Isolation and quality control assessment of different types of
pancreatic islets and other cell types from primary tissues which
includes:
-Isolation, purification, culture of islets and other cells types
using sterile technique.
-Prepare media, enzymes, and solutions under sterile conditions and
in large quantities ahead of time
-Perform quality control of islets and other cell types, sterility
testing at the bench and contribute to research and development of
assays and manufacturing processes with supervision
-Culturing cell products and changing media with sterile technique,
long term sterile culture
-Assist researchers with packing and transporting the cell therapy
products.
25% Quality Management
-Maintain Laboratory Standards (GRP and or cGMP, where applicable)
by monitoring experiment and/or equipment status, raw material
inventory and qualification, environmental monitoring, technical
writing for development/revision of standard operating procedures,
and providing essential feedback for the completion of process
changes and deviations/corrective actions.
-Participate in continuing education in order to align laboratory
operations with current research best-practices as well as
regulatory requirements.
10% General Laboratory Support
- Ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment,
investigating and evaluating vendors and products, participating in
staff meetings and providing input to improve daily laboratory
operations, washing instruments, packing, wrapping, and autoclaving
material and equipment. Maintains physical and digital inventory of
tissue samples.
- delegation of routine support work to student employees, whenever
possible.
15% Assist Director and Supervisory Staff with Data and Document
Management including:
-Transcribing data from islet isolation documents and to existing
databases, spreadsheets, and web-based applications
-Perform data analysis using designed protocols
-Maintain active inventory of a variety of major supplies equipment
and samples
10% Process development
-Conduct background literature search on relevant topics including
current methods, reagents, and ethics.
-Establish and maintain a working knowledge of the principles
behind daily work.
-Assist with development of protocol for process improvement
projects.
-Perform periodic literature reviews.
Hourly Range $18.74-$27.00
