St. Catherine University welcomes applications for a full-time
Program Director of Sonography.
The Sonography Program at St. Catherine University (St. Kate's) has
a long track record of success and innovation. Currently offered to
our undergraduate students on campus in the College for Women, the
Sonography program is one of the largest and most diverse programs
in the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health Sciences ( HSSHS ).
Nearly half of the students in the Sonography program identify as
BIPOC . St. Kate's is one of the largest private women's colleges
in the nation and is ranked #1 among Minnesota Private Colleges for
social mobility. Our students are passionate about social justice
and represent our mission to graduate women who transform the
world.
We seek a creative, innovative Program Director with experience
serving diverse students and a continued commitment to ensuring
that the professionals working in sonography are representative of
the communities they serve. This is a 12-month position. Dependent
on the applicant's qualifications and experiences, the initial
appointment may be at the assistant or associate professor
level.
Program Directors are leaders for St. Catherine University,
overseeing faculty's and students' progress, motivating and
coaching them to improve work performance, evaluating the
department's current performance, and developing plans, goals, and
strategies for improvement. This position is knowledgeable about
the University's mission and values and is committed to supporting
students and advancing the institution's goals. Because of unique
opportunities for interaction with learners, faculty members are
chief facilitators of realizing these goals. In addition, they
possess a dual commitment to professional skills within their
discipline and the art of teaching.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop new, and continually evaluate current, courses and
teaching methods to ensure the engagement and success of a diverse
student body
- Teach courses in-person and online
- Communicate respectfully and build relationships of trust with
people of all cultures and abilities
- Maintain a flexible schedule to support students who need
support outside of regular business hours and to attend student or
department events
- Mentor and advise students while recognizing and appreciating
differences in learning styles, capabilities, and experiences
- Evaluate student performance and provide feedback
- Provide leadership in planning and coordinating departmental
programs, which includes evaluation, development, and revision of
courses and curricula
- Facilitate the development of a relationship-centered learning
environment that attracts and retains faculty and staff from
diverse backgrounds
- Create an atmosphere that is respectful of diversity and
welcomes all learners
- Actively participate in the department and the school and
support the policies and procedures as they reflect the
mission
- Facilitate the development and communication of appropriate
learning goals
- Identify content and learning resources and organize learning
experiences appropriate to the learning goals
- Evaluate faculty members' performance under university policies
and procedures
- Draft annual reports for the University and accreditors
- Demonstrate knowledge of Accreditation Standards for an
Educational Program of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Manage daily operation of the program, including budget,
organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation,
continued development, and general effectiveness
- Maintain professional competence and current knowledge through
continuing professional development/educational activities
- Participate in service opportunities at the school, University,
and professional levels
- Participate in scholarly activities, which may include the
dissemination of scholarship

formats. Minimum Qualifications
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer ( RDMS ) (OB/ GYN ,
Abdomen), RDCS or CCI (Adult) .
- Two (2) years of clinical experience as a Sonographer .
- Prior teaching experience in a General or Adult
Echocardiography program .
- Experience collaborating respectfully and effectively with
internal and external partners who have a variety of cultural
backgrounds
- Experience teaching, advising, and mentoring women, BIPOC ,
parents, and working students
- Demonstrated commitment to Inclusive Excellence, including a
commitment to the coreprinciples of diversity and inclusion with an
explicit emphasis on equity and excellence instudent learning
- Able to nurture climates and cultures so all students have a
chance to succeed
- Proven experience building a team and working within a
cross-functional environment .
- Knowledge of the healthcare industry and its trends
- Experience working effectively with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral Degree
- Previous experience as a clinical or program director
- A record of scholarly accomplishments, including grant
funding
- Experience developing and implementing simulation
activities
- Experience utilizing a learning management system while
teaching (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)
