Plans and delivers the assessment, treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, education, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system as well as on the prevention of the development of these deficiencies.0.8 FTE Days (weekday) and Nights (weekend) Position at St. Paul Campus - 200 University Ave. E. 8 hour shifts during the week, 12 hour shifts every fourth weekend.Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient's condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams, consistent with our Gillette CARES expectations.Major ChallengesSupports a patient's respiratory system in a time of crisis.Provision of education to patients and their caregivers on respiratory anatomy and physiology, disease management needs, ventilator management, CPR, therapy, trach changes suctioning and solving problems in emergency situations.QualificationsRequired:Graduate of Respiratory Care education program and certified through NBRC as CRT.Registered through NBRC as RRT. Beginning 2019, new Graduates must be registered through NBRC within 6 months of hire date.Must be licensed with the State of MNAbility to communicate well, both verbally and written, is imperativeAbility to analyze problems and formulate solutions quicklyMust be accurate, thorough in all therapy modalities and operation of equipmentCurrent American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification If candidate holds valid CPR through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment, but must complete Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association within one month of date of hire..Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.Preferred:Experienced preferred but willing to train candidate with good decision making and critical thinking skillsGillette requires all staff to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and influenza unless there is a Gillette-approved medical or religious exemption.
