RADIAS Health has aPart-time (19 hours/wk) Mental Health
Practitioner positionavailable in a residential program partnered
with Catholic Charities called Main Street Housing Partnership. The
program is embedded within Higher Ground St. Paul (HGSP)
Hours are: Saturday 9am-4pm, Sunday 5pm-10pm and Monday 10am - 5pm.
Hourly pay rate: $22.84
This program provides focused supportive housing services to
roughly 40 individuals while also providing engagement and
out-reach services to all residents through activity groups.
Individuals formally enrolled in our program have recently
experienced homelessness, mental and/or substance abuse-related
disorders, and medical concerns.
The part-time Mental Health Practitioner's responsibility is to
support clients in maintaining their housing, following Permanent
Supportive Housing (PSH) principles along with utilizing evidenced
based practices: housing-first, harm-reduction, motivational
interviewing, crisis de-escalation, and other necessary approaches.
The Practitioner will be involved in the in-take process, develop
individualized goal plans, conduct safety assessments, and
coordinate with HGSP property management/operations team and other
outside service providers. Other duties include teaching and
developing independent living skills, coping skills, healthy
boundaries, and assertive communication.
To provide professional, quality program services to the persons
served by the Main Street Housing - Higher Ground St. Paul team.
This program provides supportive housing services collaboratively
with Catholic Charities staff. Staff are co-located with CC staff
at the Higher Ground St. Paul site. Work with other members of the
team to assist persons served in obtaining and maintaining an
optimum quality of life consistent with individual needs and
preferences. Emphasis is placed on working with persons served in a
residential setting. Our primary goals are to maintain a safe and
secure milieu, to assess collaboratively with each individual what
supports are needed to help maintain housing, to work with each
individual to formulate a person-centered goal plan, and to either
provide those supports directly to each person or seek out outside
providers who can more effectively assist in this manner.

---Teach and develop independent living skills (relaxation,
conversation skills, housekeeping, budgeting, etc.) for the persons
---Identify individuals prone to having behavior emergencies and
assist in developing additional programming appropriate for their
---Create a unique crisis plan for each person served.
---Receive crisis calls from persons served.
---Defuse and de-escalate any potential behavior emergencies and
assist in developing additional programming appropriate for the
---Assist with discharge planning.
---Responsible for providing staff coverage and general support of
the persons served.
---Work effectively and professionally with other treatment team
---Work professionally and collaboratively with outside
---Establish positive working relationship with RADIAS Health and
with Catholic Charities staff.
---Attend team meetings when requested.
---Assist in the orientation of new admissions to the program
---Complete all paperwork, reports, and charting contemporaneously
and in an organized manner.
---Is familiar and maintains compliance with applicable Minnesota
Statues or rules, including, but not limited to DHS, MS 253B,
Maltreatment of Vulnerable Adults, Duty to Warn, Minnesota Data
---Maintain a pattern of regular work hours.
---Participate actively in on-going professional growth and
development; maintain appropriate professional behavior and
participates in appropriate supervision.
---To complete all trainings required for Main Street Housing -
Higher Ground St. Paul and other trainings as deemed necessary by

Qualifications: Education& Experience
---Bachelor's degree behavioral science or related fields; and
---2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services
to persons with mental illness.
---30 Continuing Education (CEU) Credits every 2 years.
---Have knowledge of evidence-based clinical practices.
---Experience working in programs utilizing harm reduction and
motivational interviewing interventions.
---Knowledge of current principles, practices and techniques of
---Knowledge and understanding of homelessness and poverty and the
role these play with mental illness.
---Knowledge of symptoms and course of serious and persistent
mental illness as well as medications and other therapies.
---Be knowledgeable about and utilize various substance abuse
treatment modalities such as harm reduction and motivational
---Have demonstrable working knowledge of Vulnerable Adult laws and
other pertinent rules and regulations.
---Maintain compliance with applicable Minnesota Statutes or rules,
including but not limited to Maltreatment of Vulnerable Adults,
Duty to Warn, Minnesota Data Practices Act, HIPAA.
---Utilize crisis assessment tools for suicidal and aggressive
---Experience triaging crisis situations that might require outside
---Knowledge of supportive counseling techniques, independent
living skills/teaching and crisis intervention techniques.
---Ability to assess and manage crisis situations.
---Develop appropriate therapeutic relationship with clients.
---Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work
independently and be part of an interdisciplinary team
---Able to problem solve using analytical skills, creativity, and
logical thinking to reach a solution.
---Able to use a computer for word-processing and database
---Be able to speak, clearly understand and write the English
---Must have a car, a current MN driver's license, valid auto
insurance and be able to drive during the day or evening hours that
may require you to drive in the dark.
---Be able to accommodate flexible work hours.
Essential Physical Functions:
---Climb up to 10 flights of stairs.
---Lift 40 pounds or more.
---This position will have no supervisory responsibilities.
This position operates in a professional residential environment.
Occasionally exposed to a variety of different work conditions
including but not limited to, being outdoors during inclement
weather, construction sites, exposure to excessive temperatures
