- Responsible for managing and mentoring social work staff to
ensure adequate coverage and quality care. Meets individually with
social work staff to review case assignments, workflow and
productivity. Addresses and resolves any barriers and provides
creative solutions to case problems or issues. Leads team meetings
to address, discuss and educate about case management
techniques.
- Responsible for assessing skill and performance level of all
social workers within sites of responsibility. Performs yearly
evaluations of all social workers. Responsible for hiring,
promotion, disciplinary actions and termination processes of social
workers.
- Develops departmental SOPs, patient and family programs, and
quality improvement initiatives. Networks and investigates to find
necessary community resources and programs to aid in patient care.
Offers in-service education programs and functions as a resource to
medical staff and the community.
- Participates in and contributes to Value Based Care
initiatives; attends manager meetings to assure coordination of
services for patients.
- May provide therapeutic counseling to patients, family members,
and caregivers as needed. Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of
mental, emotional, and behavioral issues as appropriate. If
licensed as a CSW and billing for these services, will document
session notes and billing requirements in a timely fashion
- Provides emotional support and crisis assessment to patients
and families, as well as non-pharmacologic support for pain, sleep
issues, and other physical concerns.
- Meets with patients and their families to administer, assess,
and provide appropriate follow-up of psychosocial needs
assessments. Considers social support, appropriate community
resources, and coping mechanisms.
- Active member of the medical interdisciplinary team. Ensures
ongoing communication with team members to facilitate understanding
and support of identified patient and family needs.
- Provides education to patients and clinic staff regarding
skills and knowledge specific to the role of a mental health worker
in a medical practice; serves as a resource to clinic staff and
physicians.
- Provides speaking services to groups and organizations to
facilitate public understanding of the emotional component of the
cancer experience.
- As appropriate, supervise MSW Student Interns; review
candidates, mentor, and documentation training.
- If licensed as a CSW, may provide Clinical Supervision to MSWs
working towards clinical licensure if necessary and deemed
appropriate.Qualifications:
- Master's degree in social work from a school or program
accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
- Minimum 7 years' experience, preferred, working as a licensed,
masters-prepared social worker required, with licensure as clinical
social worker preferred; oncology, hospice, and/or palliative care
experience desired.
- At least two (2) years project management or supervisory
experience.
- Valid and current state master's-level license

ENVIRONMENT:The work environment may include exposure to
communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation,
medical preparations and other conditions common to an
oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person
interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may
