The League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) is seeking a strategic, experienced leader to be its next Executive Director. Founded in 1913, LMC supports the elected officials and staff of its 855 member cities through advocacy, education and training, policy development, and other services. LMC has more than 110 full-time employees, the majority of whom are based out of LMC's St. Paul building located just one block from the State Capitol. The Executive Director is appointed by and reports to the LMC Board of Directors. This position performs highly professional intergovernmental, supervisory, administrative, and public policy and advocacy work on behalf of members. LMC's Constitution delegates operational authority to the Executive Director, including budget preparation and administration, and personnel appointment authority for all positions. The Executive Director also serves on the LMC Insurance Trust (LMCIT) Board, providing direction and oversight to the administration. The current combined total operating budget for LMC and LMCIT is $27.2 million. Qualified candidates will have a Master's degree in public or business administration, management, public policy analysis, or a related field. Alternatively, a juris doctorate degree or additional years of relevant experience will meet this requirement. In addition, the candidate should possess at least 10 years of highly responsible experience as a City Manager/Administrator in a moderately complex city or local government, or in a senior leadership position within a private, nonprofit, association, or governmental setting, or some combination of these, with at least five years of experience in a government or nonprofit setting.
