SUMMARYThe Associate Director of Alumni and Employer Relations will
work with internally with Alumni Relations, Career Development,
Institutional Advancement, Hamline faculty, and other colleagues
across campus to create and execute strategies to strengthen the
Hamline alumni network and develop internship and career
opportunities for Hamline students. This position externally will
establish and steward professional and cooperative relationships
with a diverse network of employers, focusing on Hamline alumni.
The Associate Director will determine the availability of job and
internship openings, research prospective employers, and develop a
network of contacts.The Associate Director serves as a liaison
between the Alumni Relations Office and Career Development Center.
Other important responsibilities include managing some events,
interacting with volunteers, overseeing a budget, and continually
evaluating the effectiveness of the function in order to best serve
the needs of both alumni and students.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND
RESPONSIBILITIESLeadership and Alumni Engagement
- Evaluate the current landscape of alumni engagement strategies
as relates to undergraduate students' career development and access
to internship opportunities.
- Maintain and strengthen current relationships with alumni
employers.
- Work with Alumni Relations and Career Development Directors to
develop and meet goals for the establishment of new internships and
alumni/employer contacts.
- Identify and develop new meaningful relationships with alumni
and employers across a variety of professions; conduct in-person
visits with alumni and employers, both at their organizations and
on campus.
- Become an expert on the professional goals and needs of Hamline
students, and work with faculty, employers, staff, and alumni to
identify opportunities.
- Act as an ambassador of the Hamline community and champion of
Hamline students within the alumni network.Campus Connections
- Work in partnership with the Assistant Program Director of
Internships (Career Development Center) to ensure alumni and
prospective employers have an excellent experience working with
Hamline University.
- Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to identify
areas of need for alumni and employer engagement to surface key
alumni and employer contacts that lead to internship
opportunities.
- Work with departments that interact with students (student
affairs, conference and event management, and athletics) to
identify opportunities and partner with programs.
- Connect alumni/employers with students to promote job,
internship, networking and mentoring opportunities.
- Collaborate with alumni relations and development staff in
building the pipeline of donors and volunteer leaders; enhance
constituent experience related to internships and career
preparation.Additional Responsibilities
- Work with the Associate Director of Alumni
Relations/Communications to create meaningful content for email,
web, and print to highlight the impact of alumni on the internship
and career preparation process.
- Identify points of collaboration with existing Alumni Relations
engagement programs and strategies.
- Serve as liaison to relevant professional associations,
including the Minnesota Association of Colleges and Employers.
- Represent the Alumni Relations and Career Development Offices
in efforts that further the goals of the position and
departments.
- As a member of the Alumni Relations team, support engagement
efforts during peak season (e.g. Homecoming and Alumni Week) and
support team members' goals as appropriate.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
-This position reports to the Director of Alumni Relations with a
dotted line to the Director of Career Development and will meet
regularly with both teams.Student Worker Supervision: This employee
does not supervise student workers, but does provide guidance and
works closely with student staff.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,

Handshake and Raiser's Edge.MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or
University.
- Three years of professional experience.PREFERRED
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of the Twin Cities employing community including
corporate, nonprofit, government, science, legal and fine arts
employers.
- Master's Degree.WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENTMust be able to
