Due to the growth of Bay West, we are seeking an experienced scientist/geologist/engineer who is interested in starting their journey to project management. This position will primarily support environmental projects and project managers for projects in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado for a variety of federal customers. The Successful candidate is not requested to relocate and may work from home or an existing Bay West office, if desired.Geologist III (Deputy Project Manager/Scientist III)- Responsibilities:The successful candidate will be responsible for working with project managers supporting project planning, estimating, planning, and executing groundwater extraction and treatment system projects, including CERCLA or RCRA remedial investigations and feasibility studies; remedial designs and construction; long-term monitoring; and military munitions remediation program. Responsibilities and expectations for this position include:Knowledge of environmental investigations and remediation projects regulated by RCRA, CERCLA, DoD, DoE, or USEPA.Lead preparation of project documents, including projects plans and reports. Assist project managers and manage project tasks. Tasks may include managing task budget, managing field events (procure equipment and supplies, manage subcontractors, manage task logistics, direct field staff), leading internal project meetings, attending meetings with clients.Strong communication skills to interact effectively with internal project team members, subcontractors, and teaming partners. .Attend Pre-bid site walksPeriodic business travel is required. Travel is anticipated to consist of visits to project sites, and client offices. Travel is expected about 5-10% of the year and may be local or overnight.Communicate directly with the ER Manager on ways to improve ER techniques, operations and functions so that Bay West continues to perform ER services successfully.Minimum Qualifications:Minimum of a BS or BA degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related discipline.Ability to obtain professional licensure within two years of hireMinimum 5 years of environmental consulting experience Minimum of 2 year of experience working on environmental investigations and/or remediation projects regulated by RCRA, CERCLA, DoD, DoE, or USEPA.Working familiarity with environmental assessment field data collection methods and procedures.Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
