Research (CR) group's mission is to invent and demonstrate
revolutionary process and packaging technologies that enable
Intel's product leadership.
The Intel Components Research group is seeking a Materials Research
Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be
expected to:
Demonstrate a safety-first attitude in all types and phases of
work
Be responsible for the development of materials to meet program
needs - often on short timelines with limited resources:o
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the electroplating
deposition, including growth mechanisms and the impact of additives
on the process.o Be proficient with standard semiconductor
measurement techniques (AFM, ellipsometry, optical profilometry,
SEM, SIMS, XPS, XRD, XRF, XRR etc.) needed to quantify material
properties and discriminate between varying process inputs.o Be an
expert in experimental design and interpretation.o Ability to make
well-reasoned decisions with limited data.
Engage semiconductor tool and material ecosystems to drive key
engagements in support of Components Research programs.
Be an active member of Components Research's external engagements
team, engaging with universities, national labs, semiconductor
consortia and vendors to identify and establish new research
opportunities.

This is an entry level position and compensation will be given
accordingly.
Qualifications
You must possess the below requirements to be initially considered
for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the
requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top
candidates. Knowledge and/or experience listed below would be
obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and/or classes
and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship
experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD degree in Materials Science or Engineering, Chemistry, Physics,
Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
Lead- and co-authored research publications in highly regarded,
peer reviewed scientific journals and/or conferences.
6+ months of experience with the following (having more than one
will be preferred):- Developing/maintaining electroplating
processes.- Developing/maintaining electroplating process
hardware.- Materials selection to improve electroplating
processes.- Application of critical analytical techniques to
overcome process challenges.- Project development in a team
environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Thorough understanding of how to monitor and control electroplating
processes (thickness, particles, stress, resistivity, composition,
uniformity across complex and varied structure
etc.).Electrodeposition experience with dual-damascene and/or
through silicon vias.
Working knowledge of standard semiconductor processes (PVD, etch,
clean, CMP, lithography, etc.) and their interactions with
electroplated films.
Ability to modify electroplating film properties to improve ease of
integration.
Familiarity with electrical test metrics and integration
schemes.
Experienced with automating common tasks within automation
systems.
Previous experience in running vendor research collaborations.
Willingness to work in a flexible environment which will involve
working from the fab, lab, office, home and from vendor sites as
required.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Working Model
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows
employees to split their time between working on-site at their
assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work
model may change to accommodate business needs.
