Job Description - Application Security Engineer

Application Security Engineer - REMOTE

HQ is in Minneapolis - St Paul, MN

Direct Hire: Targeting $100,000 - $150,000 Base salary range DOQ (open to jr to sr level )

Ideally looking for 2+ professional years of recent Application Security Engineering experience

• With additional prior experience in Software Engineering, SW Development, Application Development, etc. Ideally in .NET, but Java is ok. Exposure or experience with some of the following:
  • Open-Source Scanning
    • Whitesource (Mend) or Sneak is ideal
    • OSWAP Top 10
      
      
      • Not just via textbook - really understanding the greater picture, size/scope, vulnerability risks and remediation plans
      • Secure-by-Design and Secure-Coding approaches and techniques
      • Threat Modeling
      • API Security testing, and knowledge on container security
      • Understand and have exposure to CI/CD pipelines in order eventually bring in Security Controls and toolsets into the pipelines
        Our direct and long-time client - established, very profitable (coming off record years!) is in the infant stages of enterprise, product, and operational Transformation! They are in the infant stage of building a brand-new SaaS / Cloud platform that will their customers " one stop shop " access point.
        
        The Application Security team (reporting up to Chief Legal Officer, not IT), is looking to hire a confident Application Security Engineer who has experience " building processes, tools, pipelines, etc. from scratch ". This will NOT be a operations, keep lights on role.
        
        This Application Security Engineer will have dotted line to this new Product Engineering division and responsible for the training, coaching and collaboration with their SW Engineers to deliver Secure coding practices throughout the development of this new platform.
        
        Although you will not need to code daily, we are looking for someone who can relate, collaborate, and positively challenge Software Engineers on best practices, Open-Source Scanning, static code analysis, API testing, etc.
        
        We are looking for someone who is inquisitive, likes to dig in, can build relationships with Product Engineering and collectively make the best in breed platform!
