Overview
MAST international is looking for a part-time English Language and Grammar Instructor for Fall 2023, with the possibility of reappointment in subsequent academic semesters. The English Language and Grammar instructor will teach up to 30 MAST international trainees, which are a broad and diverse group, from different countries and backgrounds, with different levels of English proficiency. The instructor is responsible for all class preparation materials, lesson planning, and evaluating student performance.
This position is intermittent and not eligible for healthcare benefits; renewal is dependent upon successful performance and availability of funding. Compensation will be $3,250 for the entire semester, paid bi-weekly.

Schedule

  • 150 minutes in-person teaching on UMN St. Paul Campus, twice a week, 75 minutes each session.
  • Preferred class schedule: mornings, Tuesday & Thursday.
  • Appointment starts August 23rd, 2023, and ends December 21st, 2023. Required Qualifications
    • BA Degree in English, English as a Second Language, Linguistics, Education, Bilingual/Bicultural studies, Reading, or Speech or related field + 4 years of relevant experience OR MA in English, English as a Second Language, Linguistics, Education, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, or speech or related field + 2 years of relevant experience.
    • Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certificate or equivalent such as English as a Second Language (ESL), Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
    • English Teaching experience to speakers of other languages, and from diverse cultural groups.
    • Ability to use technology to enhance teaching and learning.
    • Ability to accommodate different learning styles with sensitivity to diverse cultures in a student-centered, task-based classroom.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Creativity and enthusiasm in providing an environment conducive to learning.Preferred Qualifications
      • MA in English, English as a Second Language, Linguistics, Education, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, or speech or related field + 2 years of relevant experience.
      • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level, or adult learners.About MAST
