We are investing in the Small Animal Internal Medicine service by
adding three faculty positions. Two positions will be primarily
research focused and will require that the candidates either have a
strong, externally funded, independent research program with a
focus in a small animal internal medicine-related discipline or
have a high likelihood of developing one within two years. One
position will be primarily clinically focused and the rest would be
divided amongst teaching, clinical research and other
service.Clinical Service:
The selected individual will be expected to support house officers
in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of Small Animal
Internal Medicine cases presented to the Veterinary Medical Center
(VMC). Provide excellent specialty-level care in internal medicine
in collaboration with other specialists and emergency
veterinarians. Work closely with colleagues in the Veterinary
Medical Center to provide seamless transition between secondary and
tertiary care, support clinical research trials, and provide
opportunities for the training of student clinical externs and
house officers. Positively represent the hospital in the
professional community and to the general public.
Professional and Graduate Education:
The selected individual will be expected to participate in the
didactic and clinical skills instruction of professional and/or
graduate students. This individual will also be expected to advise
and mentor Small Animal Internal Medicine residents.
Research
For the research-intensive positions the selected individuals will
develop independent research in a Small Animal Internal Medicine
discipline. Duties will include development and management of a
research program, grantsmanship, and mentoring of graduate students
and residents. Clinical research opportunities also are available
through the Clinical Investigation Center, as many potential funded
research projects require internal medicine expertise.Service:

College through internal and external committee engagement in line
with professional interests and in support of the greater interests
of the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Qualifications
