This position is designed to work collaboratively with and provide
administrative support to the Director of Diversity, Equity, and
Inclusion (DEI) to implement and ensure progression of the College
of Pharmacy's DEI Strategic Initiatives. The initial terms of this
appointment are that it will be temporary for no more than two
years, with renewal based on organizational need and funding.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
40% Project Management & Strategic Planning (Diversity Equity and
Inclusion)
- Lead project management efforts with the Office of Diversity,
Equity and Inclusion to implement the College's strategic plan. Be
a leader in mapping implementation timelines; ensuring that targets
are met; develop process improvement steps; prepare reports and
updates; monitor critical action items and brief supervisors on
developments related to those issues; research and resolve
conflicts and issues as they arise.
- Plan and implement special events and training sessions as it
relates to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
- Coordinate and support all existing and future diversity,
equity and inclusion initiatives including: pipeline programs
(SCOPE and DEI efforts within other pipeline programs), Thrive
Bootcamp, Racially Concordant Mentoring, IDI training and
assessment, etc.
- Work with leadership to assess program impact and implement
continuous quality improvement
- Work with Assistant and Associate Deans to develop best
practices, policies and guidelines that aim to develop and support
an inclusive culture built on broad representation from all
identities in alignment with our collegiate values.40% Office
Administration for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Oversees the day-to-day operation of the Office of Diversity,
Equity and Inclusion, in duties in collaboration with the Assistant
Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Participate in and document executive-level meetings in order
to assist the Assistant Dean with making key decisions.
- Manage complex calendars/schedules. Screen and direct requests
to the Assistant Dean. Triage, prioritize and respond to various
inquiries and requests from the University and multiple
stakeholders. Prioritize and respond to multiple inquiries and
requests made from group members and collaborators and
colleagues.
- Independently follow up on issues identified through multiple
communication channels as appropriate.
- Participates in program and administrative planning and
oversees the execution of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
programs
- Collaborate with the college's webmaster to develop and
continue to maintain web sites for the Office of Diversity, Equity
and Inclusion
- Work with the Director of Communications and the Assistant Dean
for Diversity Equity and Inclusion to regularly communicate with
internal and external stakeholders (i.e., diversity month emails,
upcoming activities, points of pride, new initiatives, office
updates).
- Acts as representative of the Office of Diversity, Equity and
Inclusion on specifically assigned matters to internal and external
agencies and partners.10% Fiscal
- Develop and oversee budgets and fiscal reports for the Office
of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, including maintenance of
financial arrangements with external partners or sponsors (in
coordination with the CoP Business Office).
- Reconciliation of DEI accounts
5% Monitoring/Compliance
- Work with HR and the Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity and
Inclusion to track diversity, equity and inclusion required or
recommended training taken by CoP faculty, staff and students.
- Work with the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity and
Inclusion as well as the Associate Deans for Students and for
Graduate Education to track and maintain racial and ethnicity
metrics for our learners.
- Work with the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity and
Inclusion and the Director of HR to to track and maintain racial
and ethnicity metrics for faculty and staff.
- Strategic plan metrics and monitoring5% Miscellaneous
- Duties as assigned
- Serve as a lead trainer for college-wide professional
development initiatives
- Professional development for self and co-workers
Working Conditions:
The majority of the work in this position is performed in a general
office setting with remote flexibility. There will be times when in
person attendance is required upon supervisor's request.Salary:
$50,000 -$55,000
Qualifications
All required qualifications must be documented on application
materialsRequired Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion with
demonstration of successfully completing initiatives in this
area
- BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience
to equal four years; with strong analytical skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and
adaptability to meet changing demands
- Demonstrated experience in project management and
coordination
- Demonstrated experience providing skilled administrative
support to executive level
- management or senior level faculty. Demonstrated experience
managing budgets.
- Demonstrated experience with analyzing data
- Experience with preparing reports or manuscripts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and
Google applications (email, calendar, drive) as well as creating
and managing databases.
- Commitment to supporting and encouraging a diverse work
environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in an area relevant to Diversity, Equity and
Inclusion with strong analytical skills
- This position requires attention to detail, organizational
skills, excellent written communication skills and the abilities to
multitask and prioritize.
- Familiarity with the university budget system (EFS).
- Training and experience in project management.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise
discretion, and manage multiple priorities at once
