Looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team!The Senior Accountant is responsible for the organizational and affiliate financial recordkeeping, including accurately maintaining all general ledger accounts, reconciling bank statements, conducting monthly and year-end closing procedures, generating various reports and financial analysis/forecasting, and assisting with the annual audit. The Senior Accountant will also support the Finance Department for accounting related special projects.Accountabilities:LMAPerform month end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliationsAnalyzing financial dataMain rolling forecast with input from internal stakeholdersPreparing audit workpapersEssential Responsibilities:Month-end closingSupport and ensure timely month-end close.Prepare and record assigned journal entries into the accounting software.Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.Maintain fixed asset inventory and depreciation schedules.Complete the monthly closing process by preparing and self-reviewing all assigned journal entries and processes, including recording all relevant allocations.Review the general ledger and monthly financial statements for accuracy.Manage the housing functions accounting, including but not limited to: recording monthly rent, preparing monthly rent statements, and participating in bi-weekly housing meetings.Prepare and submit monthly contract invoicing, including budget reconciliations.Cross-review journal entries from other finance staff.Financial planning and analysis (FP&A)Maintain FP&A software solution, including integrations between ERP and FP&A softwarePerform planning, forecasting, budgeting and analytical activities to support management decision makingIdentify and investigate budget variances.Preparing audit workpapers for Accord and affiliate companiesPrepare schedules and work with the Controller to complete the annual audit as well as any other finance monitoring reviews.OtherServe as a backup for accounts payable.Review and record lockbox cash receipts.Troubleshoot ERP and FP&A software issues.Improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes and systems through smart use of technology and digital tools.Develop strategies to improve organizational efficiencies, including proactive identification of simplification and automation opportunities.Review or create accounting processes and accounting policies as necessary. to maintain and strengthen internal controlsProvide the same accountabilities/functions noted above for Accords affiliate subsidiaries.RequirementsCredentials/Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education:Either a Bachelors Degree in accounting or finance, or commensurate experience of five or more years in accounting and finance, with oversight or review responsibility of lower level accounting employees.Skills & Experience:Five years of Accounting experience, two years of which include oversight or review responsibility of lower level accounting employees.Must have advanced knowledge of Excel, including Pivot tables, text to columns, filtering, VLOOKUP and other advanced formulasCPA or FP&A preferredExperience with and knowledge of accounting softwareStrong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to give attention to financial detailStrong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain financial informationExcellent at working independently and as a part of the finance team, to share information and work collaborativelyExperience in nonprofit or health care environments is preferable but not requiredLanguage SkillsAbility to read, write, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to document in neat, legible, accurate, and objective manner. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from program staff and leadership.Mathematical SkillsAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as basic math, which includes (at minimum) addition, subtraction, division, and calculating percentages.Reasoning AbilityAbility to read, write and perform math skills; ability to solve problems; ability to accept/follow through with direction and recognize professional boundaries. Ability to serve as a creative team member who can suggest and implement strategies to enhance the service; demonstrate patience, self-control and flexibility. Strong analytical thinking skills and the ability to think through and propose solutions to complex problems.Certificates/Licenses/CertificationsThe incumbent of this position must have a valid Drivers License and reliable transportation to be used as needed for work related functions. Motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record required.
